> Terms of Service
These terms are an agreement between you and PhD Sky ("we", "us"). By using the site at phdsky.org or creating an account, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
What PhD Sky is
PhD Sky is a free tool that aggregates academic position announcements posted publicly on Bluesky and other public sources, and lets you browse, filter, follow, and receive email digests of them. We are not an employer, recruiter, or agent for any listed position. We don't post the positions ourselves, verify their accuracy, or take part in any application or hiring process.
Positions are provided "as is"
- Listings are gathered automatically and classified with the help of software and AI. They may be inaccurate, out of date, already filled, duplicated, mis-categorized, or no longer open.
- Each listing links back to its original public source. That source — not PhD Sky — is the authoritative version, and its author controls it.
- Always confirm details (deadlines, eligibility, funding, contacts) directly with the original poster or the hiring institution before relying on them. We are not responsible for decisions you make based on a listing.
Accounts
- You may create an account with an email and password or a supported sign-in provider. Give accurate information and keep your credentials secure — you're responsible for activity under your account.
- Accounts are for individual, personal use. Don't share them or create accounts on someone else's behalf without permission.
- You must be able to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction (in most places, 16+; younger with a guardian's consent where required).
- You can delete your account at any time; see the Privacy Policy for what that removes.
Email digests
If you set up a saved search, we email you digests of new matching positions at the frequency you choose. Every digest includes an unsubscribe link, and you can change or turn off delivery from your account at any time.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- scrape, bulk-download, or systematically harvest the site or its data beyond normal personal browsing, or harvest contact details for solicitation;
- disrupt, overload, probe, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the service or its infrastructure;
- use the service for anything unlawful, deceptive, harassing, or infringing, or to misrepresent your affiliation with anyone;
- copy, resell, or redistribute the aggregated content as your own product.
Intellectual property
The PhD Sky name, site design, and software are ours (the code is open-source under its repository license). Position text and author handles belong to their original authors and are shown here under fair-use/public re-display with attribution and a link back. If you're an author and want your post removed, see "Removing your content" in the Privacy Policy.
Third-party services and links
The service relies on and links to third parties (Bluesky, Supabase, Vercel, Resend, Google, and the institutions behind each listing). We don't control them and aren't responsible for their content, availability, or practices. Your use of them is governed by their own terms.
Disclaimer of warranties
The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We don't guarantee that listings are correct, that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any position exists or is still open.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, PhD Sky and its operator won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any lost opportunities, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the service or reliance on any listing. The service is free; our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us, which is zero.
Changes and termination
We may change, suspend, or discontinue the service or these terms at any time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above; continued use after a change means you accept it. We may suspend or terminate access that violates these terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [your country / state — set your jurisdiction], without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be handled by the courts located there, unless mandatory local consumer-protection law says otherwise.
